The kids received travel trips for their Christmas present and the boy was whisked off to Washington DC. Such a crazy, enlightening, and depressing time to be there. When we arrived, we found out that the current administration removed the White House visitor department and never contacted us about our previously booked tour, but our amazing congressman's office gave us a private tour of the Capitol building. So awesome, and so fascinating. Strange feelings in the capitol of tension and uncertainty, mixed with pride and just a little hope. And astronaut ice cream. I'm so glad we went.
